Il primo coro gay a Bologna ha avuto inizio nell’autunno 1994 e non era un coro di soli uomini: veniva chiamato il Coro del Cassero poiché le prove erano il martedì sera al Cassero e la prima esibizione fu fatta al Cassero poco prima di Natale di quell’anno.
Uno dei pezzi forti del Coro del Cassero del 1995 è stato Stand Together di Tom Robinson (scritta da Noel Greig nel 1982) riadattata appositamente per il coro dal Maestro Roberto Calidori.
La canzone di Robinson era un inno all’unità del movimento: affermava che gay e lesbiche, al di là delle differenti modalità di rivendicazione e visibilità, dovevano combattere insieme contro l’omofobia della società e per i diritti civili.
